Since I last posted about donations at the end of November I have received the following: Pirjo $50, Richard $50, Wanda $20 and Angela $50.

Thank you very very much. Thank you also to Happy Hollow Zoo and Vanessa who continue to support me and my Rangers. They collected lots of electronic waste recently and raised money for us! That is just amazing to me!

It has been an incredible year for us. Your words of support, your interest and your inspiring generosity has taught us a great deal.

Elie, great pictures! Have any of the rangers been bitten by snakes? The photo of the rangers in the tall brush makes me think it would be very easy to step on one accidentally! What kind of snakes are found in the area? Are there Black Mambas there? Also, this is something I’ve always wanted to know, what is the incidence of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas dying from snake bites?

Hello Theresa. Yes, sometimes Rangers get bitten by snakes. But as you probably know, snakes are never really out to attack us. Humans often get bitten because the snake was scared. So although there are lots of snakes we don’t often see them. There are lots of kinds of snakes here, mainly the Gabonese Viper, one of the deadliest snakes in Africa. I am sure other animals get bitten by snakes, but I do not have any statistics on that unfortunately. Thank you Therese and Vanessa!

Jambo Elie,

watched a program on the television about your efforts, what a magnificent job you all do to preserve the wildlife. Is it possible as a foreigner to join the Rangers?

Keep up the good work, your my heroes!

I watched a show today with Ben Anderson and he was able to join your rangers in the Congo. It was a great show and really made me aware of your situation there and how important you and the rangers are to the survival of important species like the gorilla. I will make a donation to support your truly important cause.
